Margarete Steiff GmbH is only licensed to manufacture the Rotary Teddy bear. The license to sell the bear in the UK is held by the rotary club of Swaffham (UK). The Rotary Club of Eeklo (Belgium) holds the sales license for the rest of the world. All orders handled by Margarete Steiff GmbH will be processed on behalf of these Rotary clubs, proceeds from each bear sale will be donated to the Rotary Club to support their charity programs - and especially their fight against Polio. Margarete Steiff, who suffered from Polio her-self founded the company that gave the world both the first soft toy and the first Teddy bear bringing "Friends for Life" to millions of people all over the world.
